For many families and individuals interested in buying a home, one of the greatest barriers for them is acquiring enough money for a down payment. In the past potential consumers have had to individually seek out different assisting resources to help with funding. This has resulted in millions of dollars going unused every year because buyers have been unable to find compatible programs. The California Association of Realtors has recently added a tool to their website that enables interests to help find these programs.
The tool, Down Payment Resource, was initially developed by Workforce Resource, LLC where they won the Innovator Award in 2011 for most new technology. Through the tool prospective buyers answer a select series of questions. From this, the Down Payment Resource is able to derive a series of programs that the buyer is eligible for and from this can receive funding.
In the past, millions of dollars have gone unused every year because of buyers being unaware of different resources. As awareness for this tool grows, it will enable buyers to easily find and utilize resources that are already available to them and help them make that down payment.
