American Association of Private Lenders Annual Conference 2013 - November 19, 2013

From November 10-12th, Las Vegas saw another successful convention of the American Association of Private Lenders. In its fourth year, the conference was at its biggest yet, and doubled in size from last year, with over 300 attendees. Sterling Pacific attended in all sorts of capacities, with Josh on the Board of Advisors, as well as one of the presenters, and also as an attendee to learn more about the industry. Presenters included other brokers, fund managers, lenders, accountants, and lawyers, covering a variety of topics, from ways to effectively market, to protecting investors and borrowers. Vendors came from across the nation, representing loan servicing firms, self-directed IRA administrators, and other companies instrumental to the industry. Sterling Pacific was represented on the closing day by our managing director, Josh Fischer, with a panel discussion on ways brokers such as ourselves can protect themselves from litigation by what they say in communications, and ensuring that both borrowers and investors are well informed of all details. Josh was joined by Don Pool of Powell and Pool as well as Anthony Geraci of Geraci Law Firm for the panel.

It was a great experience for us, and an excellent opportunity to meet and network with a lot of people in the industry, learn a bit more about things we can do to improve as a firm, and to get a feel for the private lending business across the country. For those interested in learning more about the conference, AAPL, or our presentation, we’d love to hear from you! And if you’re a private lender looking to learn more about the business, we look forward to seeing you there next year.
