A new way to learn about alternative investments (like trust deeds) - July 3, 2009

Stock market discouragement has many investors evaluating alternatives they’ve never considered before. But, the process can be daunting. How do you determine which alternatives are worth considering? And how do you learn all you need to know to make a smart decision?

Many investors are responding with a time-tested approach — investment clubs — to learn what they need to know to feel comfortable trying an unfamiliar investment.

Traditionally a means to divide the workload of analyzing public stocks, investment clubs allow members to combine socializing, research, group learning and, sometimes, diversification through a shared portfolio. Even the most successful clubs have been challenged by tumultuous recent stock market activity, though. It’s a logical next step that the club format would be utilized to evaluate possibilities beyond the stock market.

Could an investment club be right for you? You can get information about forming a club — or joining an existing club — through the national non-profit BetterInvesting. Read more about how investors are expanding their clubs into alternative investments (like trust deeds!) at NuWire Investor.
